Steven Beranek is the head of the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group and also practices general business law. His background as a business attorney who also litigates has given
him a unique perspective on the legal side of business, because he knows how documents prepared in the office actually work and are interpreted in the business world and in courts. Putting this experience and perspective to work for the firm’s clients, he is able to spot potential problems before they materialize and prevent small problems from becoming large problems. On the litigation front, Steven is a veteran of the court room, having handled hundreds of disputes, both large and small, and was instrumental in changing the law with regard to legal consideration for employee restrictive covenants for at-will employees in the case of Lake Land Employment Group, Inc. vs. Columber.

Steven received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Allegheny College in 1990 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron in 1996. While in law school, Steven was a member of the celebrated trial team and was named “Outstanding Student in Trial Advocacy.”

Steven is licensed to practice law in Ohio and has gained admission to several federal courts, including the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Tax Court.

Steven lives in the Medina area with his wife, six of his seven children, and four dogs. In his free time he enjoys reading and solving crossword puzzles.
