Joe Corsaro is the founder and Senior Managing Partner of Corsaro & Associates Co., LPA. Joe has over 25 years experience in business and tax planning for closely-held businesses and high-net-worth individuals. As head of the firm, Joe is involved in and oversees all aspects of the firm’s practice areas. Joe’s practice focuses on business and tax planning for corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies; family wealth transfer and business succession planning using a variety of vehicles, such as grantor retained annuity trusts, charitable remainder trusts, self-cancelling installment notes, family limited partnerships and split-dollar agreements; estate planning and probate, asset protection planning; representation of clients in taxable and tax-free acquisitions, dispositions and mergers; representation of clients in IRS controversies, audits and appeals; qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, executive compensation planning and employee fringe benefits; and civil litigation.
In 2004, Joe received the Ohio State Bar Association’s designation as “Certified Federal Tax Law Specialist,” a designation achieved by only a handful of lawyers in the Northeastern Ohio area.
To achieve such recognition, a candidate must first be nominated by his peers, must meet certain education and experience criteria and must pass an extensive certification exam.
Joe was named to the list of Ohio Super Lawyers for multiple years. The Super Lawyer selection process includes peer nominations, a blue ribbon panel review and independent research of candidates. The list of SuperLawyers is published annually in Northern Ohio Live magazine and the Super Lawyers magazine.
Joe received his undergraduate degree from the Virginia Military Institute and graduated magna cum laude with high honors in English. He received his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and graduated cum laude. The focus of Joe’s law school education was in the tax area, including individual taxation, corporate and advanced corporate taxation, partnership taxation and estate and gift taxation.
Joe is licensed to practice before all Ohio courts as well as the Supreme Court of the United
States. Joe has presented seminars on various tax and business law topics for organizations such as the National Business Institute, Lorman Education Services and the Ohio Society of CPAs.
Joe is a supporter of all Cleveland sports teams but his passion is baseball. He, his wife, Susan and their three children, Joe, Katie and Sarah, reside in Bay Village, Ohio.
